Reverend Alice Parson Wright was born and reared in Ridgeville, SC, where she spent most of her life. However, on November 11, 2006, her pastoral journey brought her to Williamsburg County, where she would meet and marry the love of her life, Mr. King Wright. They are the proud parents of five children and eight grandchildren.
Rev. Wright holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Claflin College in Orangeburg, SC. And she is a 2022 graduate of Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary at Allen University in Columbia, SC where she earned her Master of Divinity Degree.
Rev. Wright’s professional career has included working as a community outreach worker and later as a headstart teacher with Berkeley-Dorchester Economic Development Corporation; Medicaid Eligibility Worker and Supervisor with the Department of Health and Human Services, Parent Educator with Dorchester County School District, and a Job Coach with Williamsburg County School District Office of Special Services.
Rev. Wright is an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She has been in the pastoral ministry for 16 years, having served as pastor of Greater St. John and Canaan AME Churches in the Trio Community of Andrews, SC. She was recently appointed to the congregation at Jerusalem AME Church in Hemingway, SC, where great things are happening.
She is a member of the Trio Community Action Organization, the Kingstree District AME Women in Ministry and she is the treasurer for the Palmetto Conference Women in Ministry. Rev Wright also serves on the executive committee of the Williamsburg Branch NAACP. Her contributions to the community are further expressed through her work with her church.
